The International Society for Urban Mission (ISUM) is a network whose intention is to collaborate to address the unique challenges rising urban poverty pose to Christian faith and mission. Formed in 2012 in Bangkok, Thailand, ISUM’s purpose is to be a fellowship of urban Christian practitioners, scholars, and leaders committed to seeking God’s Shalom in cities, through active reflection, personal solidarity and creative collaboration. Activities include our bi-annual New Urban World Journal, ISUM Summit for Urban Mission, sharing resources, training and research, and Urban Learning Exchanges.

The Micah strategy for 2015 (outlined here) identifies Seeking the Welfare of the City as a core thematic focus The increasing concentration of poverty, disdvantage and vulnerability in urban environments, particularly slums, highlights the need for specific attention to be given to the theology and practice of integral mission in cities.

In line with this vision, Micah has entered into a strategic partnership with ISUM. As of 2015, ISUM has become an expression of Micah in Urban Mission.
