Global Multi-Faith Call to Action on Housing
Faith organizations and leaders unite with one voice to address the global housing crises
The Faith Pavilion, at the 13th Session of the World Urban Forum (WUF13) released the Faith Pavilion Call to Action on Housing on 19 May 2026, a global multi-faith statement calling for renewed moral leadership, cross-sector collaboration, and practical action to address the growing global housing crisis.
The Call to Action recognizes that the world faces an escalating housing crisis affecting billions of people through inadequate housing, displacement, informality, rising costs, climate vulnerability, and deepening inequality. It asserts that housing must be understood not merely as physical shelter, but as foundational to human well-being, family stability, public health, community life, economic opportunity, and social cohesion.
The statement emphasizes the critical role faith communities can play in advancing housing solutions through their longstanding local presence, trusted relationships, moral leadership, property and land assets, volunteer networks, financial resources, and deep commitment to the well-being of communities around the world.
The Call to Action encourages stronger partnerships between governments, faith communities, civil society organizations, financial institutions, urban practitioners, and the private sector to help scale housing solutions that are locally grounded, socially inclusive, and environmentally sustainable.
Micah Global is proud to add our voice to this Call to Action.
