“The first time I saw John Stott he was doing a series of Bible expositions for pastors and staff of Inter-Varsity Christian Fellowship here in the Philippines…" so writes Melba Padilla Maggay, Ph.D of ISACC in the Philippines and Micah Ambassador.

John Robert Walmsley Stott CBE was a British Anglican priest and theologian who was noted as a leader of the worldwide evangelical movement. He was one of the principal authors of the Lausanne Covenant in 1974. In 2005, Time magazine ranked Stott among the 100 most influential people in the world. He has been described as “someone who could "explain complex theology in a way lay people could easily understand”.

Among the many tributes to John Stott at the time of his passing, the Archbishop of Canterbury’s tribute stands out: “During a long life of unsparing service and witness, John won a unique place in the hearts of all who encountered him, whether in person or through his many books. He was a man of rare graciousness and deep personal kindness, a superb communicator and a sensitive and skilled counsellor… he helped to change the face of evangelicalism internationally, arguing for the necessity of "holistic" mission that applied the Gospel of Jesus to every area of life… He will be remembered most warmly as an expositor of scripture and a teacher of the faith, whose depth and simplicity brought doctrine alive in all sorts of new ways.”

John RW Stott: Servant of the Peoples is an essay in honor of John RW Stott, requested by his associates and written on the occasion of his centenary. Wonderfully written, Dr Maggay’s essay captures rare and personal insights into the life of a man deeply committed to the Word of God and to the people of His kingdom.
